Tips & Preparation
Recipe inspired by DC and Bailey from Espresso Aficionado Discord.
Reason to try:
-
Much coarser grounds, no need high pressure, still able to get similar to espresso extraction(9%-11% TDS) by just $40 brewer.
-
Aims for high concentration, juicy shots with clarity, sweetness, and vibrancy.
-
Can dilute the final brew to make an Americano style beverage.
Theory or idea behind:
- Boiling water is used to compensate for heat loss.
- Target extraction yield: 19-20%.
Variations:
- 40g coffee with 155g water, 8.2% TDS, 22.5% extraction.
- 18g coffee with 68g water added for a 45g yield (from DC).
- 20g coffee with 80g water (from Bailey)
Preparation:
- 20 to 24 gram beans
- 450 micron grind
- Cut out ChemeX filter or AeroPress filter to fit.
- AeroPress filter is more thinner and bigger, need use tamp to smush into place.
